Story
The House

Located on land belonging to Lucie Lamoureux, this brick house already existed in 1876.
Doctor Jean-Salomon Taupier (1852-1938), who had to face the last epidemics of diphtheria in 1893 and smallpox in 1902, moved there in 1882. Jean-Salomon Taupier was alderman in 1915 and mayor of Chambly-Bassin de 1925 to 1928.

Architecture
This majestic residence is representative of the Second Empire-inspired architecture, popular towards the end of the 19th century in the construction of bourgeois residences. The characteristic buildings of this movement are distinguished by their mansard or pavilion roofs and by the free use of classical ornamental elements.

The Taupier house is topped with a four-sided mansard roof © covered with slates and pierced with gabled pediment dormers. The house is also distinguished by its square-based tower which dominates the center of the main facade. Fitted with arched windows ® with ornamental keystones, this tower is topped with a pavilion roof 6 surmounted by a decorated and raised ridge 6 terrace.
Placed on a masonry stone foundation, the brick walls, which have been redone, join a wooden cornice fitted with caissons ® and corbels ® applied Segmental arches O surmount the window openings. Above the main entrance, the tower door fits under a curved brick arch and opens onto the porch terrace.

This is an estate. Currently one unit is rented and the others are vacant.
